Inspired by the famous cookies from Levain's Bakery, Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies offer a delicious twist on the classic treat. These cookies are crispy on the edges, chewy in the center, and packed with crunchy walnuts and rich chocolate chips. After our first bite of Levain’s legendary cookies, we were determined to recreate their magic at home.
Mix the butter, brown sugar, white sugar, egg replacer, and vanilla extract to create a creamy mixture using a stand mixer or in a bowl with handheld mixer
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to the bowl and continue mixing until a slightly soft Play-Doh consistency.
Stop mixing and fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips into the mixture with a spatula
Using an ice cream scoop, portion individual cookies onto a parchment lined cookie sheet
Preheat the oven to 350 F (175 C) and bake for 12-15 minutes until slightly browned on top
Once done, remove the cookie sheet from the oven allowing them to cool and the cookies to harden enough to remove from cookie sheet. Then place the cookies on a cooling rack for 20 minutes before enjoying.
Enjoy!
Notes
Chill the Dough: For thicker cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
Storage: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Freezing: Freeze the dough balls for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
Baking Time: Adjust the baking time depending on your oven; keep an eye on the first batch to prevent overbaking.
